Two killed, three injured in road accident

GULBARGA: Two persons were killed on the spot and three were seriously injured in a road accident near Farhatabad, on the Gulbarga-Jewargi National Highway on Monday.

According to information reaching here, Vasant Belamagi (27), son of the former Minister Revu Naik Belamagi was among the three injured.

The other two persons have been identified as Ramesh Motilal and Rohit Tarasingh.

They have been admitted to the Government General Hospital and Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital. Doctors said that their condition was serious.

Police identified the dead as Ravi Chavan (25) and Sham Rathod (27).

The victims were returning to Bangalore in a jeep after campaigning for Mr. Belamagi, who has been nominated as the BJP candidate in Gulbarga (Rural) Assembly constituency.

According to the injured persons, their vehicle was hit by a speeding truck.

Due to the impact their jeep was thrown into a field on the side of the road. The truck did not stop and headed towards Jewargi.

The police have registered a case.
