Tension in village over desecration

THENI: Tension gripped Kodangipatti in the district on Monday as some unidentified persons garlanded a signboard with a portrait of Ambedkar picture with footwear.

The police removed the slippers from the board erected by Dalit Panthers of India party. The situation was tense as hundreds of villagers thronged the spot. The police plan to convene a peace committee meeting at the village on April 17 in this connection.

The portrait was smeared with black paint eight months ago.
