Fire safety week inaugurated

Kakinada: Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi appreciated the services being rendered by the Fire Department and stressed the need for people to be always vigilant to prevent fire accidents. They should extend their cooperation to Fire Department staff when they attend to emergencies.
Inaugurating the Fire Services Week at Salipeta fire station on Monday, Mr. Dwivedi said the Fire Department personnel have been sacrificing their lives to protect lives and property and their services should be properly rewarded.
National Fire Services Day is observed on April 14 every year in commemoration of 66 fire fighting personnel who lost their lives while trying to extinguish the fire that broke out in the Mumbai port on that day in the year 1944.
Later, the Collector and other participants maintained silence for two minutes as a mark of respect to firemen P. Satyanarayana and K. Babji and driver Sk. Vali who died recently while discharging duties.
District Fire Officer (DFO) G. Joseph Assistant DFO B. Ammi Naiduand others were present.
