Students land in plum jobs

Placement drive at Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College


260 students placed in various companies

College also provides training in soft skills for students


PUDUCHERRY: Students of Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College have obtained placements in companies including Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS), Infosys and Accenture.

At Jubilation 08,’ a function held to celebrate the achievements of the Placement Cell of the college on April 12, offer letters were given to 260 students placed in various companies through the campus recruitment drive.

Of this, 93 were placed in TCS and 29 in CTS. The previous batch had around 200 students gaining employment in companies through the placement cell.

“Apart from placement, we are conducting training programmes for the students. We have tied up with personality development organisations to develop the soft skills of the students,” Placement Officer and Head of Computer Science and Engineering Department N.S.N. Cailassame said.

The students were also actively participating in various competitions.

They had recently bagged the 24th place among 1,900 colleges at the IBM-Academic initiative for submitting projects on information technology recently, he added.

Training in GRE, TOEFL

Special training in GRE and TOEFL were also given to the students at the placement cell. “We are also planning to conduct campus recruitment drive at the end of May,” he said.

Vice President of Human Resources, TCS K Ganesan distributed the offer letters to the students. He stressed the need for students to update themselves regularly to face the competitive environment. College principal V.S.K. Venkatachalapathy, Dean of School of Physical, Chemical and Applied Sciences and Chairman of Placement Committee of Pondicherry University S. Balakrishnan and Founder of SMVE Trust N. Kesavan spoke.
