De Ingottu Nokkiye The film, scripted and directed by Balachandra Menon, has pretensions of being a political satire, but falls short woefully. The sharpness one expects from a film of this genre is sorely missing. The film is a sloppy piece of work where the filmmaker has not cared to do his homework. It is centred on Vettikkattu family. Vettikkattu Sadasivan (Jagathy Sreekumar) is the State’s Chief Minister. Sivan (Jayasurya), his nephew, was initially an admirer of the Chief Mini ster. But upon realising that Sadasivan is a womaniser, he turns against him. Sivan also realises that another person in the family has been missing for a long time. This is Vettikkattu Sambasivan (Jagathy in double role), the identical twin of Sadasivan. By chance, Sivan comes across the twin. He kidnaps the Chief Minister and puts the twin in his place. Sambasivan is a daydreamer who pines for his long-lost love Ammu (Kalpana). The consequences of Sambasivan’s deeds as Chief Minister form the rest of the story. Except for a Vijay Yesudas-Shweta number nothing captures the viewer’s attention. G. Jayakumar
