‘All old electricity equipment in the government offices would be replaced’ SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh Government marked the 61st Himachal Day on Tuesday by announcing a new electricity saving scheme with a budgetary provision of Rs.80 crore. Naming the scheme after the former Prime Minister as Atal Bijli Bachat Yojna, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said all old electricity equipment in the government offices would be replaced in the State and all households would be provided four free CFL bulbs to save electricity. This exercise will be completed before the birthday of Mr. Vajpayee on December 25 this year, he promised. Mr. Dhumal also took the salute at an impressive march-past on the occasion. Recounting his government’s achievements over the past three months, he said the daily wages of workers had been enhanced along with social security pensions. The government had decided to issue one lakh Soil Health cards to farmers after getting the soil tested in order to motivate the farmers to cultivate income-generating crops. He said the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme had been implemented in all 12 districts of the State where every job card holder would be eligible to get 100 days of assured employment in a year. He appealed to the people to get themselves registered and to get job cards to avail of the benefits under the scheme.
