HUBLI: The Hubli police arrested five persons, including three women, on the charge of robbing a motorcyclist by posing as beggars, on Monday. According to a press release issued by the police, the arrested have been identified as Bihani (30), Ramesh (25), Kalavati (20), Basanti (28) and Samakali (30), all natives of Sultanpur district in Uttar Pradesh. The police said that on Monday the accused posing as beggars stopped Raghavendra Narayanrao Kalal, a resident of Arjun Vihar in Hubli, when he was returning from the petrol station at Basaveshwar Nagar Cross after refuelling his vehicle. They then attacked him and took away Rs. 720 from him. However, the accused were arrested later, the released said. AssaultedA woman was assaulted by her husband after she asked him money for buying foodgrain and vegetables on Monday. Rajbi who sustained head injury has been admitted to KIMS Hospital in Hubli. Old Hubli police have registered a case.
