Bihar not checking Maoists : Lalu

Special Correspondent

Kolkata: “The Bihar government has failed to tackle spreading Maoist activities in the State particularly in areas adjoining its border with Nepal,” Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad said here on Monday.

“Why are they [the Maoists] making railway stations their target?” Mr. Prasad, who is also the Railway Minister, wondered.

He was referring to the attack by activists of the CPI (Maoist) at the Jhajha railway junction on Sunday in which six persons were killed. Among them were five police personnel; some jawans of the government railway police.

“It is a very sad incident and the Bihar government has failed to check Maoist activity in the State,” he said after attending the flag- off ceremony of the “Maitree Express” to Bangladesh at Kolkata station.

“Arms were looted from the GRP and people had died,” he said.
