Differently abled seek special camps

VILLUPURAM: The Villupuram District Physically Handicapped Social Service Welfare Association has appealed to the district administration to organise panchayat union-level special camps to distribute membership cards to the welfare board of the differently abled.The association adopted a resolution on the occasion of the first anniversary of its Tindivanam branch. According to M. Ramesh, president of the association, the differently abled in the district had to come to Villupuram to register with the welfare board at present.

In another resolution, the association called for steps to create awareness of the functioning of the welfare board among the differently abled to eliminate middlemen.

It also called for scrapping the income ceiling of Rs 12,000 a year as the eligibility for getting free bus passes.
