CHANDIGARH: The Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation (HAFED) has bought 262 metric tonnes of barley so far from its two purchase centres at Farooq Nagar and Haily Mandi in Gurgaon district under the contract farming scheme. It launched this scheme recently in partnership with the Haryana State Agriculture Marketing Board and SKOL Breweries. Disclosing this here on Tuesday, a spokesman of HAFED said that the federation had kept its promise of ensuring remunerative prices to the farmers, as barley had been purchased at more than Rs.1050 per quintal, the best price in the market. - PTI
