Thrissur: A four-member gang broke into the houses of a journalist and a woman, assaulted and robbed them of 22 sovereigns of gold. The gang broke into the house of Raghavan Moothedathu, 59, correspondent of the daily, “General”, at Kizhakkumpattukara around 2 a.m. The gang broke open three doors at the rear of the house and snatched gold chains . When Raghavan resisted the intruders, he was bludgeoned with an iron rod. The gang broke into the house of the late champion eater “Theetta” Rappayi around 12-30 a.m. and robbed the family of 15 sovereigns of gold.
