Bangalore: A new, yet-to-be-registered political entity, the Devaraj Urs National Party, was formed under the chairmanship of Sughandaraje Urs on March 5. Confident that it will soon be registered, the party has announced that it will contest from Rajajinagar and Vijayanagar constituencies in Bangalore. Manifesto releasedMr. Urs released a 112-point manifesto of the party here on Tuesday. Some of the ideas promoted by the party might inspire the major political parties such as the Congress, which has released a partial manifesto, and the Bahujan Samaj Party, which has decided not to issue a manifesto at all. Some of the party’s promises include instituting national and international awards named after Rajkumar; loans of Rs. 5 lakh for a group of five youths to open a textile shop, an electronic goods shop or a pawnbroker’s shop in all the taluks; a loan of Rs. 1 crore each for two educated youth in each taluk; free colour television sets for all those who do not have one; free gas connection with stoves for the poor; 6 kg of rice for each voter at the rate of Rs. 2 a kg; giving all erstwhile royal families of the State the right to their property, which, however, cannot be sold; laws that will make it compulsory to purchase and use all products produced by public sector units; and establishing dharamshalas in all towns for orphans. Ecological plankAs an ecological measure, the party promises in its manifesto that it will recycle the paper used in government establishments.
