Lucy Oommen Award conferred

NEW DELHI: St. Stephen’s Hospital here has awarded the first Dr. Lucy Oommen Award for excellence in Mother and Child Care for 2008 to physician Sharda Jain in recognition of her distinguished service in the area of women’s health. Dr. Lucy Oommen was the first Indian medical director of the hospital.

According to a hospital release, Dr. Sharda Jain was the first organising secretary of the national convention on sex determination and female foeticide.
