CHENNAI: The Neelankarai police are on the look-out for thieves who decamped with Rs.2 lakh in cash from an IMFL outlet of the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation in Uthandi on Sunday night.
According to police, the thieves had used keys to open the shutters of the shop and the cash box. When they left the place, they had broken the inner portion of the lock in the shutter to make it appear as if the shop had been broken into.
One held
The Neelankarai police have nabbed one person and recovered from him jewellery worth Rs. 35,000, based on a complaint from Lakshmanan, a resident of Palavakkam. According to police, the accused Jagadeeswaran was a resident of Besant Nagar and had been employed by Lakshmanan.
Jagadeeswaran had often visited Lakshmanan’s house. On the day of the incident, the accused had stolen diamond and gold jewellery, when Lakshmanan was away. He had also destroyed Lakshmanan’s personal documents such as company ID cards.
