Whirlpool launches range of new products

NEW DELHI: Whirlpool Corporation on Tuesday unveiled new products across five categories — refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, microwave oven and water purifiers. The company plans to aggressively market all its products this fiscal and invest around Rs. 200 crore in product development by 2010.

After launching the new products here, Whirlpool of India Managing Director, Arvind Uppal, said with the series of launches in 2007, the company recorded a jump of 20 per cent in gross sales and recorded Rs. 15 core profit for April-December 2007.

The products launched include the 180 litres ‘Genius’ range of refrigerators that makes ice 30 per cent faster, has unique vegetable box, utility drawer and a special anti-bacterial gasket coating and is priced between Rs. 8,200 and Rs. 10,800. Similarly, the ‘Fusion’ range of refrigerators come with ‘6th sense frost control’, an emergency light that provides light equivalent to a 40 watt bulb for two hours during power cuts and technology that retains cooling for up to 17 hours during a power cut. Available in 200 litres, 230 litres and 260 litres, its price range starts from Rs. 10,700 to Rs. 13,900. The Whirlpool ‘Mastermind’ range of air conditioners has been equipped with several new innovations that provide faster cooling at lower power consumption.

“Our ACs have been certified by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency. This helps consumer save Rs. 6,500 on electricity bills annually,” claimed Mr. Uppal. The ACs are priced between Rs. 13,500 and Rs. 32,000.

Whirlpool has launched a new range of washing machines that are priced between Rs. 16,000 and Rs. 27,000, while ‘Purafresh’ reverse osmosis water purifiers are priced between Rs. 12,500 and Rs. 22,900.

The company also launched ‘Max’ compact microwave ovens.
