Fort Kochi YMCA retains title

KOCHI: The host Fort Kochi YMCA scored the maximum points and retained the overall title in the 20th all-Kerala inter-YMCA badminton tournament here.

In an all-Fort Kochi final, YMCA’s P.A. Alfred retained the men’s title defeating V. Srikanth 21-17, 21-15.

In doubles, Alfred and Srikanth beat the Shibu-Gavin combination 19-21, 21-19, 21-14.

Perumbavur YMCA’s K.J. Roy won the veterans’ trophy defeating the host’s Abdul Salam 21-17, 21-17.

Abdul Salam and Dominic Xavier beat Ramachandran and Ignatius 25-23, 21-13 and won the veterans’ doubles title. Sunil Jacob, Asst. Commissioner of Police, gave away the prizes. — Principal Correspondent
