Robinson. CHENNAI: Once the Tamil Nadu Basketball Association revoked the ban on hoopster S. Robinson, it was only a question of which institution would pick him. As expected, Indian Overseas Bank took Robinson back into its fold — he last represented IOB in the Federation Cup in November 2006. The decision was taken by the top management of IOB on Tuesday. “Of course, I am thrilled. It’s a dream come true for me. I have to thank TNBA and IOB,” said Robinson. The 27-year-old began basic fitness drills on Tuesday at Loyola College along with other IOB players under the supervision of chief coach N. Ramamoorthy in the ongoing month-long camp. “I know I am not match fit since I have been out of action for the last 14 months. I did not start rigorous training right away. I’ll slowly increase my work load. I should be back to my peak fitness soon,” said Robinson. In all probability, Robinson will play for IOB in the first tournament of the season — the State-level tournament to be held at Vadamadurai from April 28 to May 1. With Jharkhand’s Abhilek Paul joining IOB and Robinson to boot, the team looks tougher than ever before. — Principal Correspondent
