BANGALORE: ASC blanked ADE 3-0 while Karnataka State Police (KSP) drubbed Postal 7-1, as the Puttaiah memorial football tournament for Super Division teams got underway at the football stadium here on Tuesday. Sourav Das struck a brace for ASC in the 31st and 81st minutes while Rakesh Singh scored one in the 45th minute. KSP went on a scoring spree in the second session as Karthikegen finished with a hat-trick. B.V. Pradeep struck early in the seventh minute before Arun Kumar added one before change of ends. N. Xavier pulled one back for Postal in the 38th minute. However KSP went on a rampage in the second with Srinath (penalty) and Sampath Kumar (free-kick) getting into the scoring act. Karthikegen sealed the issue with strikes in the 78th, 81st and 88th minutes. Two wins for YCBCYCBC-Bellary recorded two wins in the semifinal league of the State sub-junior basketball championship at the Sree Kanteerava stadium courts on Tuesday. The Bellary side beat Nationals Mysore 50-26 and Mangalore BC 49-35. YCBC Vijaynagar, Hospet, beat Mangalore BC 66-43 to remain in contention. The organiser Magnatrix, along with the Karnataka Athletic Association, has conceived the ‘Ultra Motor World Earth Health Day’ run on April 20 (Sunday). The run to be gone through in eight categories, will be held in and around Sree Kanteerava stadium to commemorate the World Health Day (April 7) and the World Earth Day on April 22. Attractive cash prizes (Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 2,000) will be presented to the top three finishers in each of the eight categories.
