Mahavir Jayanthi on Friday

Chennai: Shree Jain Maha Sangh will celebrate Mahavir Jayanthi on Friday with ahimsa marches and free medical camps.

An ahimsa procession will start from Mint Street at 8 a.m. and end at Jain Dadawadi on Konnur High Road in Ayanavaram. Banners and placards on Mahavir’s teachings will be displayed during the procession.

Rajasthan Governor S.K. Singh will participate in an ahimsa meeting to be held at Jain Dadawadi. Union Minister of State for Law and Justice K. Venkatapathy and Tamil Nadu Director General of Police K.P. Jain will be guests of honour.

Sweets would be distributed at the Puzhal Jail, food served to patients at the Institute of Mental Health, fodder given to cattle in Pinjrapole and grains would be given to birds, a release from the Sangh said here.
