Bangalore: South African wicketkeeper Mark Boucher scoffed at the excess talk veering around the Green Park pitch at Kanpur in which India registered an eight-wicket victory to draw the recent three Test series 1-1. “Lot’s been made out of the pitches this series but we didn’t expect anything different. When the series is on the line and if we come back to South Africa and (presuming that) we are playing in Durban, we probably would leave the pitch a little bit greener. So it is home advantage and why not use it as long as it is within the dynamics and rules of cricket?” Boucher said at a press conference here on Tuesday. Earlier when queried on the kind of pitches he expected in the forthcoming Indian Premier League tournament, Boucher said in jest: “actually nothing like Kanpur”, and laughed. He then added: “Hopefully we will get a couple of good wickets to play on. Twenty20 is a batters’ game but you can’t make it too batting friendly. You need a surface with good pace and bounce as well so that all your quicks can run in and scare the batters as well. Hopefully we will get good cricket wickets.” — Principal Correspondent
