Had filed a criminal case of torture for dowry Had filed a similar complaint in the NCW NEW DELHI: A woman has filed a complaint against her husband in a court here, accusing him of torturing her mentally and physically under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. Taking the complaint on record, Metropolitan Magistrate Lalit Kumar has sent the complaint to the Mediation Centre for reconciliation between the couple. According to the complaint, the husband had started harassing her a few months after the wedding, asking her to take care of all his 12 pets. The marriage was solemnised here in 2006. The woman hails from Jodhpur in Rajasthan. Her husband stays at Siddharth Enclave in South Delhi. The woman alleged that her husband had started harassing her because his father had failed to provide him a Honda City car as promised at the time of marriage. He had started ill-treating her from the day after the marriage, stopping all his interactions with her, the complaint said. At one point of time, her father had tried to mediate between them but her husband refused, she said. Her father later died due to the stress of their strained relationship, she alleged. She had earlier filed a criminal case at the Sriniwaspuri police station accusing her husband of torturing her for dowry. She had filed a similar complaint in the National Commission for Women. The police are investigating the case.
