COIMBATORE: Light Combat Aircraft will be initiated at Air Force Station, Sulur, in 2010, as per schedule.

Air warriors should be geared up in advance for the squadron, Air Chief Marshal Fali Homi Major, Chief of Air Staff, Indian Air Force (IAF), said here on Tuesday.

He was on a visit to 5 Base Repair Depot AF and 43 Wing AF at Sulur.

Deployment

According to an official release, the Air Chief Marshal said that there was a need for new inductions to be assimilated on compressed time frames for their operational deployment.

“I am confident that each air warrior is looking forward to these developments and is eager to make his share of contribution in this national initiative. I am satisfied at the pace in which the IAF is progressing. It will be a pleasure to be serving in the Force 10 years hence, since it will become a hi-tech environment to work in,” the Air Chief said, while addressing air warriors.

He apprised them on the current modernisation drive and exhorted them to be ready to take on the operational and technological challenges in the true tradition of the IAF.

The Air Chief Marshal was earlier received by Air Marshal S.C. Mukul, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Air Command, Air Commodore P.K. Srivastava, Air Officer Commanding, 5 BRD AF, and Group Captain B.K. Dash, Station Commander, 43 Wing AF.

Reviewed

The Air Chief also reviewed the various tasks carried out at the Air Force Station and interacted with uniformed personnel and civilian employees.
