NEW DELHI: The 15th edition of one of the biggest travel and tourism exhibitions in Asia, “South Asia Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE)”, is being organised at Pragati Maidan here beginning this Friday. The first instance of a true public-private partnership in the Indian travel industry, the three-day exhibition will showcase the entire gamut of tourism products under one roof. The event is being organised under the patronage of the Union Tourism Ministry and will see the participation of over a dozen leading hotels in the Capital. ‘Biggest’ exhibitionDescribing SATTE as one of the biggest travel and tourism exhibitions in Asia, Chief Coordinator Navin Berry says: “In terms of sheer scale, which is mostly determined by space and attendance in such exhibitions, this will certainly be one of the largest travel and tourism exhibitions in the continent.” In existence since 1994, it is inarguably the single biggest platform in the country to bring buyers and sellers from various domains of the travel and tourism business under one roof. SATTE has been attracting tour operators from the overseas markets in large numbers. “We have hosted over 4,500 international tour operators over the years to source and buy Indian tourism products and have successfully built this platform to assume an international character in a sustained manner over the last decade-and-a-half,” says Berry. HighlightsThe 15th edition of the exhibition will be spread over an area of over 5,400 square metres and comprise more than 600 booths. A highlight of the event would be 13 countries exhibiting their products and over 225 tour operators from around the globe. It will showcase tourism products from some of the leading States in the country including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and West Bengal. The North-Eastern States will be promoted as the “theme” regions at this event.
