KANNUR: Fisheries Minister S. Sarma has said that renovation and maintenance works of roads in coastal areas taken up by the Fisheries Department under the Tsunami Rehabilitation Project (TRP) will be completed before the onset of monsoon. Inaugurating the commencement of the work of Pazhayangadi-Ezhome- Muttukandy Road being developed under the TRP at a function at Pazhayangadi near here on Tuesday, the Minister said that instructions had been given to officials concerned that the road works, except surface tarring works, under the TRP would be completed before the onset of the rain. These works included the Pazhayangadi-Ezhome-Muttukandy Road, he added. The 3.5-km long road was the biggest road project under the TRP in the State, he said. The project estimate was Rs.96 lakh. Stating that such roads would be commissioned in the next five to six months, Mr. Sarma said that the government was committed to providing road facilities to people living in the coastal areas.
