Traders concerned over continuing raids

NEW DELHI: Expressing concern over continuing raids on foodgrain traders by the Delhi Government, the Grain Merchants’ Association on Wednesday denied any role in increasing the wholesale price index of essential commodities.

Delhi Grain Merchant Association president O.P. Jain said: “No trader wants to stockpile eatables, particularly foodgrains, as these items depend on crop season. Also, the price index of grains, pulses and sugar is down by 5-10 per cent this year compared with the prices during the same period in 2007.”
