SP seeks steps to lift power movement cases

ANANTAPUR: Superintendent of Police M.K. Singh on Wednesday conducted a coordination committee meeting with the public prosecutors in the district over pending cases, particularly the cases pertaining to electricity movement registered ruing the previous TDP regime.

In all, 10 cases pertaining to the movement have been pending in the district registered against leaders and activists of CPI (M), CPI and Congress.

He sought to know from the public prosecutors as to why the petitions were not moved in the courts concerned as per G.O. issued by the State Government in 2005 for lifting of cases.

He asked the public prosecutors to help expedite the lifting of cases by moving necessary petitions in courts under Section 321 of the CrPC.

The public prosecutors were learnt to have failed to give any reasonable cause for the delay caused in lifting the cases in the district. Such cases were lifted in all other districts in the State, they were told.

Legal advisor to the district police Ravindranath, OSD G. Vijaykumar, 10 public prosecutors participated in the meeting.
