This Day That Age
Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s Prime Minister, opening a conference of independent African States in Accra on April 15, urged the countries of Africa to avoid “entanglement in the quarrels of the Great Powers” and follow a policy of non-alignment. Dr. Nkrumah condemned all forms of colonialism and racialism and warned against “new imperialism." He appealed to “all powers concerned to cease testing nuclear weapons.” The nine-day conference is attended by delegates from the United Arab Republic, Ethiopia, Liberia, Libya, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia and Ghana. They will discuss the future of dependent African countries, the Algerian problem and racial discrimination.
