Judge orders screening of ‘Mudrank’ on jail premises Film was made without consulting me: Telgi Pune: The mastermind behind the stamp paper racket Abdul Karim Telgi, lodged in a jail here, filed a law suit on Wednesday seeking permanent injunction against exhibition of a film based on his life ‘Mudrank.’ Justice A.M. Gondne, the civil judge before whom the matter came up, directed the Yerawada prison authorities to screen the movie on the jail premises for Telgi after his lawyer Vidhyadhar Koshe argued that the release of the film could cause prejudice to the plaintiff as there were other cases pending against him in various courts in the country. Telgi also submitted that the film, produced and directed by Bhagwan Songar and Shakir Shaikh respectively, was made without consulting him and therefore could contain wrong information about him. It was contended that since the convict, the kingpin in the mega scam, had planned to write an autobiography, the release of the film produced without obtaining information from him could affect his personal interests. ‘Mundrank’ has been cleared by the Censor Board. The court asked lawyers from both sides to be present at the screening to be arranged for Telgi on the jail premises before April 22 and posted next hearing on April 23. — PTI
