Letters to the Editor
Congress spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan’s assertion that there is no vacancy for the Prime Minister’s post (April 16) is welcome. The AICC’s timely intervention and deft handling of the situation created by Union Minister and Congress leader Arjun Singh’s campaign that Rahul Gandhi should be made Prime Minister has ended all speculation. No one can find fault with Rahul’s induction as Congress general secretary as the party needs young talent to attract the youth. Chalapathi Rao, Hyderabad Perhaps, a ploy to get the post of Governor or any other coveted post after ‘retirement’ from active politics? S. Ramesh Krishnan, Kottayam Vani Iyengar, Bangalore N.K. Das Gupta, Kolkata With general elections approaching, the Congress needs to project a new and young prime ministerial candidate. Rahul seems to be the best bet to attract young voters. Dy Comdt. V. Sasidharan, Thiruvananthapuram
