Principal Correspondent

HYDERABAD: India XI pulled off a splendid, 10-run win over World XI to win the inaugural ICL 20s World Series cricket championship and the winner’s purse of Rs 1.25 crore here on Tuesday night.

Chasing a target of 149, World XI was cruising at one stage having scored 74 for one in 10 overs with the elegant Damien Martyn on song.

But slow bowlers Syed Mohammed and Ali Murtaza bowled impressively in the middle overs, conceding just 41 runs in eight overs between them.

Mohammed picked a wicket too, having Lou Vincent (28) stumped.

The scores:

India XI 148 for eight in 20 overs (Ibrahim Khaleel 34, Ganapathi Vignesh 57, Andrew Hall two for 39, Upul Chandana two for 31) bt World XI 138 for five in 20 overs (Damien Martyn 60, Ganapathi Vignesh two for 28).
