Vijayanagar wins

BANGALORE: Vijayanagar, Hospet downed Young Challengers BC from Bellary 46-39 after some tense moments at the Sree Kanteerava stadium court here on Wednesday, for an all-win record in the four-team semifinal league of the State sub-junior (under-13) basketball championship for the Ramanashree Trophy.

The Vimanapura girls, shrugging aside their loss to Beagles on Tuesday evening, put it across Merchants, Davangere 32-21 to clinch the honours.

The results: Semifinal league: Boys: Vijayanagar (Hospet) 46 (Rahul 12, Kiran 10) bt YCBC (Bellary) 39 (Sai Kiran 14).

For third place: Mangalore BC 36 (Nihal Kumar 14, Varun 10) bt Nationals (Mysore) 20 (Kushal 11, Sharath 10).

Girls: Vimanapura 32 (Aishwarya 11) bt Merchants (Davangere) 21 (Lavanya 12).

For third place: Beagles 33 (Sushma 18) bt Jayanagar SC 27 (Rakshitha 21). — Special Correspondent
