HONOURED: Shaun Pollock (left) receiving a shield from Malcolm Speed on Wednesday. Mumbai: Reliance Mobile has signed a $103 million deal with the International Cricket Council (ICC) for eight years. “ Reliance Mobile will be the global partner with the ICC. From today the ICC rankings for Tests and ODIs will be known as Reliance Mobile ICC Rankings,” said Sanjay Behl, Head of Branding, Reliance Communications. The deal will cover 19 major events of the ICC, like the World Cup for seniors, juniors and women, the Champions Trophy and other inter-continental events over a period of eight years. At a function here on Wednesday, Malcolm Speed, ICC CEO, and Mr. Behl presented cheques to Australian captain Ricky Ponting ($175,000 for Australia being the No. 1 Test nation and $75,000 for being the No. 2 in ODIs), Shaun Pollock ($175,000 for South Africa finishing No. 1 in ODIs) and Gary Kirsten ($75,000 for India finishing No. 2 in Test rankings). Pollock said: “There is nothing wrong in putting facilities for the home team. It should not come to a stage where the wicket becomes dangerous and the game is called off.” Gary Kirsten joined them and said: “Shaun was spot on and the home team stands to the advantage of playing to its strengths.”
