MCD’s 50 years
NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi celebrated 50 years of its existence with a grand cultural function at Azad Park here on Wednesday.
The function was graced by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna and Mayor Arti Mehra among others. On the occasion, elected representatives who held important posts in various sessions of the civic body after its constitution in 1958 were honoured. Chief guest Tejendra Khanna honoured former Mayor Kedar Nath Sahni and two of the members of the first MCD House -- Vijay Kumar Malhotra and Prem Singh. Former Deputy Mayor Ramesh Datta also came in for special praise from the senior leaders.
