CHENNAI: Startek Shipyards Pvt. Ltd. has unveiled two unique inland dredgers with hi-end technology at Royapuram Fishing harbour. Crawl-Cat 400 is an amphibious cutter suction dredger, while C90 Conver is a bucket/grab dredger. They will be flagged off to Dredging and Desalination Pvt. Ltd, Kolkata, and Andhra Pradesh Power Corporation, Vijayawada, respectively, by the week-end. They are priced at Rs. 5 crore and Rs. 1.75 crore, respectively. Talking to reporters, Deepak Rao Beedu, Executive Director, said both these dredgers could be totally broken into pieces. They could be operated by a single operator. They had been developed in collaboration with IHC Merwede of Holland and Broveco, Holland, respectively. Crawl-Cat 400 is ideal for fishing harbours, inland waterways, minor ports, cooling water intake points of power plants and lake. It has a dredging depth of maximum 6 metres. C90 is ideal for small canals, waterways, power plants and irrigation canals.
