Congress holds meet for workers from all mandals TRS chief sleeps in a ‘Lambada tanda’ in Balanagar mandal MAHABUBNAGAR: Election fever intensified in Jedcharla Assembly segment following the announcement of Election Commission of India on Wednesday that byelections to all the 18 Assembly segments and four Lok Sabha seats would be held on May 29. Much before the announcement of election schedule, major political parties Congress, TRS and TDP have started campaign.Congress party organised a workers meeting drawn from all the mandals that fall under Jedcharla constituency. The Congress party lost its hold on Jedcharla segment in 1994 elections and since then non-congress candidates were elected. In 2004 elections Congress allotted the seat to TRS and C. Laxma Reddy who has vacated the seat, started election campaign. TRS Chief K.Chandrasekhar Rao addressed the party workers meeting. He also slept in a ‘Lambada Tanda’ in Balanagar mandal which falls in Jedcharla segment for a night. The Congress probable Dr.Mallu Ravi, special representative of the State in New Delhi also undertook ‘Palle Nidra’ programme and so for he has already covered over 5 villages. TDP is lagging behind in intensifying its election campaign. Though the Congress and TRS have announced their candidates the TDP is yet to announce its candidate. The dilly-dallying of TDP high command in announcing the candidate is putting the party cadre in Jedcharla segment in confusion. Former MLA of the party M.Chandra Sekhar alias Yerra Sekhar and local medical practioner Dr.Ram Reddy are vying for the party ticket. Party sources say that their high command may field M.Chandra Sekhar again taking into consideration his caste voters in Jedcharla segment.
