Court takes up Patancheru pollution issue

Hyderabad: A Division Bench of the High Court comprising Justice B.Prakash Rao and Justice C.Y.Somayajulu on Thursday directed the A.P. Pollution Control Board (APPCB) to submit latest reports about the status of pollution in Patancheru industrial area where bulk drug industries are situated to facilitate further orders in the case.

The Bench was dealing with a writ petition remanded from the Supreme Court in 2001. The Supreme Court monitored the pollution control measures in this area for over a decade and then issued directions in 1998 fixing standards regarding pollutants and hydraulic load etc., for each unit.
