Notice issued to film director, producer

CHENNAI: An IPS officer has sent a legal notice to the director and producer of the Tamil film ‘Nepali’.

The notice, sent on behalf of M.Ravi, Joint Commissioner of Police (North), stated that the film portrayed the Police Department, Prisons Department and the judiciary in bad light. Many dialogues were rude. The movie appeared to have been filmed with the intention of creating ill feeling, disharmony and hatred between the police and the public which is per se defamatory. The director and producer should immediately take steps to delete the objectionable portions, the notice demanded.
