AIYF activists injured in lathi-charge

Testing times: AIYF activists protesting in front of the Spencer retail outlet at Manjeri in Malappuram district on Friday.

MALAPPURAM: Five activists of the All India Youth Federation (AIYF), including its State and district leaders, were injured when they confronted the police during a protest demonstration staged to Spencer retail outlet at Manjeri on Friday.

AIYF State vice-president P.P. Lenin Das and district president K.K. Abdu Samad were among the injured in the lathi-charge. A protest by the DYFI activists had forced the shop to close earlier this month. It was reopened following a court order.
