Pourakarmika electrocuted

Bangalore: A 40-year-old pourakarmika died after being electrocuted while he was cleaning the sewage behind a temple in Raghavendra Colony on Thursday.

The police said that Kumar Shetty died when he came in contact with a livewire while he was working in the drain. The Gangammanagudi police have registered a case.

Robbed

A garment industry worker was robbed at knife point by a person on Wednesday morning while he was on his way to Basavanahalli in Sira taluk. The police said that Maradi Ranganath, who was on his way to his native was stopped, by a man near a petrol bunk on the Ring Road near RMC Yard around 1 a.m. and made away with Rs. 6,300 after threatening Ranganath at knife point. RMC Yard police have registered a case.

Murdered

A drunken brawl between a stepmother and her stepson resulted in the death of the stepson on Wednesday night in Vyalikaval police limits.

The police said that Robert (26), a worker in a tile factory, was allegedly strangulated to death by Lakshmi (50) after a heated argument turned violent at their residence.

The police said that Robert, Lakshmi and Robert’s father Yesu had consumed alcohol when the incident occurred. During a conversation, Lakshmi started arguing with Robert for not contributing towards maintenance of the house. Enraged by this, Robert took his hand out to hit Lakshmi. But Lakshmi pushed Robert down and strangled him with her legs.

Neighbours, who gathered at the house after hearing a loud noise, assaulted Lakshmi resulting in injuries. She was taken to a private hospital for treatment. Later, the police took her into custody. Vyalikaval police have registered a case.
