THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has expressed concern over the “deteriorating law and order situation” in the State. The party’s State executive committee also decided to observe hunger strike at Kasaragod from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 22 in protest against political violence. KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala and Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy will lead the all-religion prayers and the fast. The KPCC executive committee, in a resolution at its meeting on Friday, said murders and gang wars had risen at an alarming rate. Political violence had moved to Kasaragod from Kannur, where relative peace reigned thanks to the peace efforts undertaken by political parties. The Kasaragod incidents would lead to communal violence unless corrective steps were taken, Mr. Ramesh Chennithala said at a press conference.
