BANGALORE: The jail authorities should authenticate Priyanka Vadra’s visit to Vellore Central Jail for meeting Nalini Sriharan by making post-visit entries in the relevant jail records, according to P. Chandra Sekharan, former director of Tamil Nadu Forensic Science Department. Prof. Sekharan, who was the principal scientific investigator in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, termed as historic the meeting of Ms. Vadra with Nalini, a convict in the assassination case. “This event is not only a long cherished desire of the bereaved daughter but one of the rarest of the rare human behaviour which has very few precedents in the human history.” Professor Sekharan, who has written the book The First Human Bomb narrating his experience of the investigation, said the assassination will be talked about for a long time as would Ms. Gandhi’s and Ms. Vadra’s willingness to forgive Nalini. “Millions of people who adore the Gandhi family will also be happy to hear from the horse’s mouth rather than from the surmises of the media,” he said.
