Protest enters 200th day in Tuticorin

Tuticorin: The relay fast observed by members of Iruvappapuram Panchayat Retrieval Committee (IPRC) entered 200th day on Friday.

They staged a demonstration in front of the Collectorate to register their protest over the delay in giving back the status of village panchayat to Iruvappapuram by merging 13 Dalits dominated hamlets around the place.

They said the advancement of Dalits in the area would happen only if the village panchayat was given back its status which the area enjoyed till the merger with Sawyerpuram Town Panchayat way back in 1964.
