Bangalore: Going through the aisles of The Kitchen Show by Yatra Exhibits at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium, chef Sanjeev Kapoor said: “It’s not just the transformation that kitchens have undergone in the last half a century, but the thought and design flow in the contemporary age, brought across for kitchen enthusiasts, is just overwhelming. Decorative aspects apart, each kitchen unit of the 100 stalls displayed has something unique to offer in the functional angle, too. Berloni Italian Kitchens boast of 4x8 ft. ‘island counters’ that are sink-specific, hob-specific and have plain worktable units. The modulars over which the counters are placed are made of heavy-gauge, high-grade steel with the modulars itself in base metal and MDF, having high-gloss lacquer doors. “We have four units in all for the kitchen, and the storage for dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, grill and provisions are taken care of. Our modulars have decorative built-in room for waste and detergents too. A complete kitchen unit will be Rs. 12 lakh approximately,” says Berloni’s representative. While Amber Home Interiors has teak wood-framed doors with walnut finish, it is the mix of Georgian glass for the cabinet shutters and the wooden mesh doors for air-circulation that makes a unique statement. Ahaa! offers are enticing as customers can choose either the company’s complete kitchen unit, or just the components that one needs. So you can choose your cabinets, doors, hob, chimney, sink, counter-top, or their stainless steel accessories. But at Look ‘n’ Cook, they sell design ideas too, apart from kitchens and wardrobes. Don’t miss taking a look at the endearing cookery space created for the hob and chimney to get a focus area. Says Vijay Trivedi, owner: “This arch is a brick-laminate work done on ply and the combo throws an aura of old-world charm.” The work costs about Rs. 15,000 for a 4x4 ft area. Whether the multiplicity of designs displayed helps you decide or get confused depends on your assimilation of ideas.
