PUDUCHERRY: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has launched a training programme for women in stuffed doll making through the Mangalam Society. The 18-day programme, inaugurated on April 15 by G. Muralidharan, AGM, NABARD, would provide skill development training for women interested in self and wage employment. NABARD has sanctioned Rs.31,000 for the programme. On training, the 20 women would be motivated and assisted to set up their own units in the production of soft dolls. Their performance would be reviewed for a period of two years. At the inauguration, Mr. Muralidharan said the trainees could make use of the opportunity to improve their skills in making dolls, setting up manufacturing units and marketing to enhance incomes.
