BANGALORE: Jaya Karnataka, an organisation floated by nascent politician Muthappa Rai, on Friday denied the Horticulture Department’s allegations that the members of the organisation felled several eucalyptus trees on disputed land with an eye to usurp it at Devanahalli last Sunday. Talking to presspersons here on Friday, Ramesh Gowda, president of organisation, said Assistant Horticulture Director K.R. Vijay Kumar has wrongly accused the members of the organisation and Mr. Rai. He said none of their men created any disturbance on Sunday. “The complaint has been filed on the statement of person who is not a member of the organisation,” he said. Giving the issue a regional chauvinism colour, Mr. Gowda alleged that Mr. Kumar has been forced by his senior officer to file the complaint against the organisation as it had protested against Tamil Nadu’s proposed Hogenakkal drinking water project. DemandMr. Gowda demanded that the case against Jaya Karnataka be dropped failing which his organisation would resort to protest demonstrations.
