Olympics: Australia in Pool B

Chennai: Defending champion Australia is placed in Pool B of the men’s hockey competition for the Beijing Olympics to be held from August 8 to 24.

The pools for women will be released after the last Olympic qualifier, to be played in Victoria, Canada from April 26 to May 4.

The match schedule for both men and women will be released mid May 2008.

The groupings with men’s teams and rankings:

Pool A: Germany (1), Spain (4), Korea (5), New Zealand (10), Belgium (12) and China (17).

Pool B: Australia (2), Netherlands (3), Pakistan (6), Great Britain (8), South Africa (13) and Canada (15). — Hockey Correspondent
