Plea quashed

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court has refused to quash the conviction of a man for going abroad on a fake visa saying the charge against him was grave in nature.

Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjeev Bansal had in March this year sentenced the accused, Suleman, to one year’s imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs.50,000 on him.

The convict had come to the court in an appeal against the Metropolitan Magistrate’s order, submitting that he had already spent 11 months in jail out of the total sentence of one year.
