‘In order to attract and retain talent in the profession’

NEW DELHI: A delegation of office-bearers of the Delhi University Teachers’ Association called on Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh on Thursday seeking his intervention for early finalisation of the recommendations of the University Grants Commission’s Pay Review Committee for university teachers.
“The Committee has so far not formally interacted with different teachers’ organisations like the Federation of Central Universities Teachers’ Association and DUTA which have already communicated their blueprint for discussion on pay revision in order to attract and retain talent in the profession of teaching,” said DUTA president Aditya Narayan Misra in a statement.
The delegation expressed its apprehension that the pay revision of university teachers might get “unduly delayed” as the exercise involved many steps.
Minister’s assurance
“The Minister assured the delegation that necessary direction would be issued to the UGC to expedite the process of pay revision of university teachers,” Mr. Misra added.
