News channels to cover IPL matches

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The News Broadcasters Association (NBA) — an organisation of leading television news channels — on Friday decided to cover the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches following an “amicable settlement of footage and accreditation issues.”

Earlier this week, the NBA put on hold all coverage “until and unless an agreement is reached.”

“It was critical in our mutual interests to find a solution to all the issues so that our viewers were able to enjoy the cricket extravaganza that is the DLF IPL…,” association member and group Chief Executive Officer of NDTV Narayan Rao said in a statement.

“We look forward to the action now on the cricket field during the 44 days of the league.”

The breakthrough came at a meeting between NBA representatives and IPL chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi in Mumbai on Wednesday.
