NDMC asked to pursue the matter Money already deposited with MCD NEW DELHI: Four years after the Union Power Ministry sanctioned construction of a sub-station in the Capital to provide a 100 per cent power back-up for the VIP areas, the State Government-owned Delhi Transco Limited is still waiting for the municipal agencies to rid the land allotted for the project of unauthorised occupation. The sub-station that will be constructed by the Delhi Transco will give relief to the New Delhi Municipal Corporation areas, which includes the President’s Estate, the Prime Minister’s residence and the houses of other dignitaries, from power cuts. The 220/33 kV substation that will be fed from the GIS Station in Maharani Bagh is scheduled to come up in Harish Chandra Mathur Lane (Electric Lane). Taking note of the delay, the Union Power Ministry has now directed the NDMC to pursue the matter with the Slum and JJ Division of the MCD. “The NDMC has informed the Ministry that it has already deposited money with the Slum and JJ Department of the MCD for the purpose. We are hopeful that the work will now be carried out without any further delay,” said Delhi Power Secretary Rajinder Kumar.
